The Brazilian Pavement Association - ABPv (Associação Brasileira de Pavimentação) is a civilian non-profitable organization, established in the city of Rio de Janeiro, founded in 1959. Therefore, dedicated to the scientific and technical progress of the Brazilian pavement for more than 48 years now.

The ABPv has the following associates categories: effective, collaborators, collective-sponsors and honorary.

Among its associates are persons who dedicate themselves to pavements and similar activities, such as engineers, teachers, researchers, businessmen, consulters and general technicians.

Between their sponsors are the DNIT, the Roadways State Departments, Universities, Technical Schools, Contractors and consulting companies, Petrobras, Infraero, etc.

In 2008 we will complete 49 years since our foundation; all of them dedicated to the scientific and technical progress of the pavement in its various aspects (streets, highways, roadways, airports etc.)

During this time, we had 38 Annual Pavement Congresses - RAPv (Reuniões Anuais de Pavimentação), 15 Urban Pavement Congresses - RPU (Reuniões de Pavimentação Urbana) and 6 International Symposiums; and we edited 175 of our News Bulletin issues, the PAVIMENTAÇÃO JOURNAL and a great number of technical publications.

EDITORIAL

We renew the hope in the realization of our wishes. Those wishes became stalled because of Brazil's stagnation of enterprises in our field. The wishes for construction work, for opening new paths, for seeing our highways away from the chaos that they are now and for the economic growth of our Country. After all, what's the use of the increase in food production if there are not roads fit to take it were it's needed?

Anyway, the ABPv wil continue in 2008 to offer courses with vital themes in the pavement field. More activities will come through the year, so we hope that you keep checking our site and keep your adress and phone up to date with us.
